Summary: The Butterfly Lion is a book that Michael Morpurgo wrote when he was born in a compound and he grew up there. His dad shot a lioness leaving a white cub. Bertie the little boy go's out the compound and brought the cub inside the compound. He has to go to boarding school and has to leave the cub. The cub got sold to a circus in France. He runs away from the boarding school and meats a little girl he tells her all about the lion every Sunday. Then they become the best of friends and go to France to try find the lion. They find the lion and take it home. Then Millie and Bertie get married and the lion dies they dig a grave and berry the lion and cover it in chalk then the Butterfly's come and drink the water off it and it looks like the lion is alive.
